Texas hotel & apartment thermostat rebates

In Texas, rebates depend on who delivers your power. Oncor lists a per-room amount for guestroom controls, while AEP Texas and Oncor's larger programs pay on deemed energy savings. We help hotels and multifamily owners figure out which path fits their property.

AEP Texas: Commercial Standard Offer Program

Hotels served by AEP Texas may qualify for incentives on guest room energy management through the Commercial Standard Offer Program, paid at $375 per kW of demand savings plus $0.10 per kWh of annual energy savings. Incentives are site-specific: AEP Texas estimates each facility based on county, HVAC and heating type, a 5°F or 10°F unoccupied setback, HVAC-only or HVAC plus lighting controls, and hotel size. As an example, AEP Texas's preliminary estimate for a 101-room hotel in Corpus Christi with a 10°F setback retrofit was approximately $12,000 to $12,500 for HVAC controls, and up to approximately $14,500 when lighting controls are added. Your hotel's estimate will vary. Eligible projects use occupancy sensing (infrared, ultrasonic, door or card-key sensors) in existing guest rooms without occupancy controls; new construction may qualify for HVAC incentives only. Projects completed by mid-December may fit within 2026 funding; otherwise the 2027 program year opens mid-January.

We verify every program monthly. Last checked November 3, 2026.
